Draft of Utah Legislative Report on Ritual Abuse Criminal Enhancements
Insights into the writing process for readers of IRA!
Due to the reservations expressed by Representative King during the House Judiciary Committee hearing on Rep. Ken Ivory’s proposed ritual abuse criminal enhancements, IRA is drafting a report for the legislature’s consideration. That report is in its early draft phase, so readers can access it here and offer their thoughts. You can also access Rep. Ivory’s summary of ritual abuse here. I would urge all readers to contact their representatives and senators in the Utah Senate and tell them you support passing HB0196 into law immediately. We won the committee vote 10-1, which was extraordinary, but we still have work to do in order to ensure the bill becomes law.
That’s why I’m making the early draft report available for readers on Scribd. I hope you find it informative, with the understanding that it is by no means complete. I am populating the footnotes in various sections which are not sourced in the early draft which I wrote last night, as well as editing and redrafting certain parts. The writers out there know that’s a process, so that’s what’s going on with this document and a lot of other draft posts on this Substack.
