Today, the House Judiciary Committee will be having a hearing on Rep. Ken Ivory’s HB 196, which will enable victims of sex crimes to bring a civil suit a year after the day on which a final disposition for the criminal proceeding is issued, as opposed to the four years after a victim turns 18.
It’s an effort to give victims another chance to bring civil suits to achieve some redress for their injuries. Tune in, watch the testimony and the hearing, and support the reform!
Cutting off Brett Bluth to ask him how much longer he has to go in his statement on a two minute limit is pathetic. Good job, committee members. Silence victims yet again.
Roll call vote. The motion passes 10-1, Rep King voting no.
