Michael Petro of Petro & Aston, the criminal defense attorney hired by David Lee Hamblin to represent him in his current two criminal cases, has an interesting background. The pattern of Petro seems to be one of connections with figures who are allegedly part of the LDS Church of Satan David Lee Hamblin held membership in, according to his daughters.
Former Utah County Attorney David Overland Leavitt retained Petro as a visiting professor in Kiev, Ukraine from 2006-07 for Leavitt’s nonprofit The Leavitt Institute. Leavitt is allegedly a child trafficker who procured “a boy from the Greens” who was sacrificed in a Church of Satan ceremony in Spring City, Utah. Leavitt’s connection to infamous polygamist Tom Green provides a plausible explanation for where the boy referenced in the Hamblin Victims Statements was procured, and his willingness to break federal law in order to illegally traffic a Native American girl from Montana for the purposes of adoption is documented.
Leavitt was also the only other individual named in the police reports in the 2012-14 Hamblin criminal case, under OP, or Other Person. It is not clear why the Provo Police Department included him in the police reports covering David Lee Hamblin’s alleged criminality, other than Leavitt’s alleged involvement in the LDS Church of Satan, which was spelled out in exhaustive detail in the Hamblin Victims Statements.
David Leavitt allegedly sexually assaulted Rachel and Eliza Hamblin at his home in Nephi, Utah. The girls were forced to perform sexually in order to demonstrate David Lee Hamblin’s training techniques for inducing compliance with ritual abuse in children.
At another incident in the Leavitt home, Leavitt reportedly raped the Hamblin daughters whenever they lost a country or territory in a computerized game of Risk.
Leavitt and his wife allegedly received one Hamblin daughter for sexual services at their home as part of a trade arrangement with the David and Roselle Hamblin.
Chelom Leavitt reportedly developed an infatuation with David Lee Hamblin and had multiple sexual encounters with him in his home in Provo, Utah, and his daughter claimed she could hear her father and Chelom Leavitt engaging in sexual intercourse.
Leavitt procured the aforementioned “boy from the Greens” who was murdered during a ceremony in Spring City.
Additionally, David Leavitt has been linked to two other trafficking operations through direct eyewitness testimony. In total, between the illegal adoption of Tonah Fishinghawk’s daughter, which he reputedly paid Northen Cheyenne Tribal President Jace Killsback money in order to secure the overriding of Tribal Social Services, and the “boy from the Greens” allegations, as well as two other allegations, David Leavitt has been connected to four separate sex trafficking operations involving children.
Michael Petro also represented Nedra Roney in her criminal case involving her violation of a protective order covering her adopted daughter Summer Roney McKell. Summer alleged that her adoptive father Robert C. McKell had repeatedly sexually abused her in Utah and Hawaii, and her mother’s response was to shuttle Summer between relatives’ houses, where Summer was stashed away in a basement without access to a phone or the Internet. As a result, victims advocates and prosecutors were unable to contact her.
The authorities eventually held Nedra Roney accountable for her actions, and she was facing felony charges. Nedra hired Michael Petro, who allegedly assured her that he could make the charges disappear owing to his longstanding relationship with Utah County prosecutors. When Petro brought a plea agreement Nedra Roney McKell which would have required her to plead to a felony while barring her from testifying on behalf of Robert McKell, Nedra McKell fired Michael Petro. Petro allegedly borrowed money from Robert McKell before he was terminated, which meant that he was in effect borrowing money from a client’s husband.
Robert C. McKell eventually pleaded to misdemeanor charges regarding his abuse of Summer McKell, his developmentally disabled adopted daughter. He is a registered sex offender. Prior to those charges, McKell faced felony assault charges in 2003, which he pleaded down to misdemeanors.
The Roney family became a focus of IRA when a property records analysis turned up dozens of Roney-owned properties within CS neighborhoods in Provo, consistent with the Hamblin sisters allegations that CS members move into neighborhoods with a strong CS presence, so that they can be safe to practice their religion. Additionally, allegations of drug trafficking and money laundering involving Nu Skin, the Roneys, and their business partner Sandie Tillotson made the Roneys likely candidates for CS membership or at least CS adjacent corruption within Provo.
Petro was hired by David Lee Hamblin in both of his current criminal cases, but Petro dropped Hamblin as a client in the second case involving a male victim. The first case, involving a female victim named Emily Sheets, whose parents are named CS members in the Hamblin Victims Statements, merited Petro’s ongoing involvement. As such, Petro retained the case with the potential to unveil CS activities and members, while dumping the case involving a male patient of David Lee Hamblin’s. That patient’s family were not CS members, and the risk of the case exposing further CS connections could be deemed minimal compared to the Sheets case.
Readers have suggested that I utilize more graphics to map out connections, so the graphic below is aimed at making it easier for readers to follow those connections.
I am LIVID reading all of these slides.
Do you really consider Brett Blyth’s abuse to be significantly less than Emily Sheets? It really doesn’t matter how you rate the severity of abuse, in my opinion it should not be compared, ranked etc. SA on its own has a life long effect on victims and it should never be minimized or compared to the SA of others. I was an SA victim myself, abuse that you would most likely label “minor” but I can attest to you that the it has had devastating impact on my life and that of my children.
For what it’s worth. @allthoseopposed
