Today, the House Judiciary Committee voted 10-1 for HB 196, and we are on to the Senate! Thanks to everyone who has supported these efforts, and thanks to the victims like Brett Bluth who went to speak at the hearing and advocates like Cindy Metcalf who spoke as well! The committee members overwhelmingly stated that they believed the victims on ritual abuse allegations. Lt. Jason Randall and Sheriff Mike Smith spoke as well, and they were effective. Katie Stahl of Right on Crime spoke, and the victims nailed their testimony.
We are on our way in the game of increments to significant legislative reform. Committee members apologized to victims for failing to advance legislation in years past as well, so the encouraging signs are there. Only one committee member, Rep. Brian S. King, voted no. He wants more data, and we are going to give him more data.
Today was a huge victory for ritual abuse survivors, and thank Heavenly Father for that!
I watched it, it was good.
Wonderful! Thanks for the report.
